Quickie Redesign!

The newness! The freshness!

CHERRIES.

I love these squirrelly cherry stems on Osias Beert’s Still Life with Cherries and Strawberries in China Bowls.

The most awesome time killer in my life, The Web Gallery of Art, happily shares amazing images from the art periods I love more than anything. I have seen a few of Beert’s paintings before (this is the Elder Beert, for those who play along), and this has always been my favorite.

I love Beert’s richness of color, whimsical use of those cherry stems, the awesomely arranged scene and perspective that makes you feel like you’re standing at the table, and the fun of still life (to me) that is: LOOK AT MY FABULOUS THINGS.

If you want to see one in person, you can see Beert’s Dishes with Oysters, Fruit, and Wine at the National Gallery in Washington, D.C.

I hope you enjoy!

    I find them senuously appealing.

Jo, I agree. Professor, maybe that’s why they feel dirty…that and you’re pregnant. Maybe.

Holy crap, does pregnancy do something odd to your libido. It’s like, I’m already pregnant, what the hell is THIS?

Pretty! At first I thought you were on crack because I could still see the work of dear Aubrey, but then I dumped my cache and all became clear.

Those are some seriously juicy looking little fruits. Yum.
