Lydia* comes from Daniel and his love for historical places. And Dungeons and Dragons, Liddia (spelling?) is a halfling rogue? I am a big old nerd, but dude is nerdier than his parents combined.
Eris is from Brett. She is the goddess of Chaos. Why no, my children are not the spawn of an art historian.
Thanks to Phoenix for the Ophelia…she so is.

I also found out Lydia is one of my sister’s maybe future baby names! We offered to change it but Lindy said, “Don’t be stupid, I’d still use it if I still liked it!” Yes, Ma’am.
Fanfuckingtabulous cat name. Lydia’s one of my all time favorite names. Sweet memories of the Muppets song, Lydia the tattooed lady. I blame all my ink on that song, actually.
Hooray for art history kitty names!!!! Ain’t nuttin’ wrong with that. One of my girls is Vesta. And congrats on your new Maine Coon mix! They are THE BEST kitties ever!
Love it! We give our animals weird names too. The short ones are daily use, but we have had a dog named Nikki Le Femme, and a cat now named Tottie Purrpot. My husband had one named Buddhapest because it liked to harass a Buddha statue his girlfriend had on their dresser (pre-me, of course!).
You are not weird! I have not called her Leo yet but I totally was tickled that her initials spelled Leo, since I think she was born late July or August and has the potential to BE a Leo!!
I love giving my cats unusual names…to me, it just seems like thier independent natures beg for it.
I used to have a cat named Camelot. I have a cat named Jezebel and used to have a red persian that we called Shitty kitty…..and my favorite cat of all time was named E.T.
Ohhh. LOVE her name. If we ever get a cat… (MY son is pining for one but I don’t think Abbey would allow.) I need to ask you and your boys for naming help!
One of my daughters is named Eris. We didn’t know about the whole discordian thing - the name wasn’t in a baby book. There was a kg teacher down south with that name and we used it to name our daughter after her uncle Eric.
Nancy, perhaps she fits into the older idea of Eris…where discordia and chaos are not necessarily wicked, bad things but events that bring about positive changes. Perhaps your daughter is more of a mover and shaker, a creative force, one who can walk out of chaos with a renewed sense of being or one who thrives on activity…something more along those lines?

Hail Eris.
All Hail Discordia.

She doesn’t fit the ‘discord and strife’ role.
