DotMoms Day!

My newest post, “A Big Steaming Bowl,” is up at DotMoms.

I wish I could tell all the parents of toddlers that Mr. Picky will change. That one day, there will be a miracle and he will stop refusing the family dinner. Except that this didn’t exactly happen for us. Daniel is 12 and still prefers the same dish he demanded at three.

That was a really cute post. :-)

So what kind of plain white rice are we talking about here? Arborio? Jasmine? Minute?

  3. Melissa Says:

Sara, all of the above. He thinks jasmine or any other kind of “whitish” rice is all long grain white white. He might mention that this other kind is good, but he still thinks it’s plain old rice.

No, minute rice…for some reason. We just never buy it. We always buy a bulk bag of rice that takes about 10-15 minutes.

My kids want mac n cheese. Only the chemically loaded day glow orange kind from Kraft. They scoff at my breadcrumb fringed, five-cheese pumped homemade mac n cheese. I say, the less effort you put into it, the higher the likelihood they will actually munch on it. It’s the reverse of trying to hard. Glad to have found your blog today.

You know my mom said I was a rice freak when I was little and I still like to have a big bowl of white rice when I need comfort food. Daniel is not alone!

    Very cute post, BTW!
